Effect
The Classic Block Cord effect has been taken to a whole new
level. Using a polished four-inch solid block of Acrylic, you
thread a nylon cord through the center of the block not once but
twice. The cord is held up, showing that the block is suspended
half way down its length. While holding the block in the other
hand and using a slight flick of the wrist, the cord penetrates
through he block, freeing the block from the cord! Included is
Mr.Brewe's instructions explaining his improved handling of this
great effect and his routine about Bessie the "Elusive" Cow. He
has been performing for many, many years, and "Bessie" is always
the most talked about trick in the show.

but I will tell you, this is an exceptional
workmanship piece. Overall size 11.25 long, 6.5

Forgetful Yogi Bear / Card in
Balloon - Warren Hamilton

Yogi stands 18 inches tall. A card is chosen, yogi
will try to do this trick, however he is about to
lose his head while doing the trick, his head is
removed (ala Forgetful Freddie) and vanished via
devils hank, (supply you own), but no "magician can
do a card trick without a head, so balloon is
inflated, attached to Yogi's shoulder, where is head
should be. Suddenly when you are ready, the
balloon burst and his head is restored, where it
should be, AND he is also now holding the chosen
card!
So what you have is 2 tricks
in one, A forgetful freddie routine and a card in
balloon trick all combined.
I don't know if Warren Hamilton got in to any trouble
over this effect.
Some kids are still familiar with Yogi Bear, he is
shown on Cartoon Network, and still many books
written with Yogi as the star.
There are no instructions
Condition: IN good condition. Item was
not painted, it was a cutout of a picture of yogi
transferred to wood, and then varnished over, so
there is some natural cracking in the picture, but
not noticeable from few feet away, the "cracking
just makes it look antiqued. See photos.

Goofus Plant (Marshall) M101-2084

Beautiful condition, when
I acquired this it did not come with the watering
can, I was able to obtain the watering can and
snakes on Ebay. It does not have instructions,
but I can include a set of instructions from a
Supreme Goofus Plant.
The watering can part that is holding the snakes, is
just bolted on the inside of the Watering Can, so if
you would prefer to move the mechanism to another
watering can, it appears to be an easy thing to do,
with just the use of a drill.
A couple things you will notice when looking at
the picture of the plant stalk -pre bloomed, the
sleeve is black velvet, with the thin green
stalk mounted on it, so if you were to be
performing it in front of a black backdrop, it
would be really, cool.
The unbloomed stalk measures 30 inches tall,
that includes the pot. The pot is weighted so
it will not topple over, the stalk screws into
the pot, with a very thick thread, unlike the
Abbotts or Supreme who used a thin screw, so the
Marshall one is far more durable. The bloomed
plant measures 25"tall with pot, and at its
greatest width is 20" wide.
The watering can, I would not describe as mint,
but there is nothing wrong with it, no dents or
scratches, so let's just call it very good
condition
The Goofus plant is absolutely beautiful and
would be described as near MINT!

| Houdini's Escape

A colorful, visual effect which is at
once good magic and entertainment.
A 12.5 inch v 7.5 inch plaque shows a muscular young
Houdini. The back of the card is in a psychedelic design
and most effective.
Houdini is placed into a large hard plastic prison cell with
bars at the front and back. This hard plastic cage is gray
and with turn button feet. "The cell of course is inside a
prison" the performer explains. There is another silk
screened plaque 14.75 x 10 inches that says "prison", and it
is placed in front of the cell.
Houdini is placed into the prison cell with bars at the
front and back, the performer shows the prison cell, front
and back, and the audience can clearly see Houdini is behind
the bars from front and back. "Houdini is going to attempt
his fantastic escape, from the cell", performer announces.
But when the performer removes the prison plaque, Houdini
has not escaped! So the prison card is placed on a nearby
table on a wire stand, visible to everyone.
Performer then explains how Houdini
also claimed to be able to walk thru a brick wall. Another
14.75 x 10 inch plaque depicting a brick wall is placed in
front of the jail cell, and when the performer lifts the
brick wall away, holding the brick wall rather suspiciously,
the jail cell is seen empty!
Of course the kids start yelling that the performer is
holding Houdini behind the brick wall, after all, the
performer is holding the card rather suspiciously. After
the usual byplay, the performer turns the brick wall around
and there is no Houdini, but the words printed on the back
of the plaque are "Houdini Has Escaped!"
"Well, where is Houdini?" the performer asks, as he picks up
the prison plaque, the kids can see Houdini peeking over the
top, and they yell, "there is Houdini". Of course when the
performer looks at the prison plaque, he is not seen. So
the usual "look, don't see" by play happens. Eventually the
performer does see the Houdini plaque, and pull him away
from the prison plaque, for the applause, and as that
happens, performer turns the prison plaque around and it is
printed with the words "Three Cheers for Houdini"
This trick when it was sold did not include a wire stand,
but I will include a foldable wire stand for it. As with
most of Edwin's creations you get some silk screened
cardboard plaques, but this one also includes the hard
plastic, very well built jail cell. Everything packs flat,
yet very visual from the stage!

| Man In The Moon (Supreme Magic)

Effect: So simple yet so
powerful. The moon is removed from the single cloud
and placed in the double-cloud frame. The door is
shut then the box is tilted. When the door is opened
the moon has vanished. You close the door, tilt the
frame and the audience hears the moon roll to the
other side. The audience yells for you to "Open the
other door" but you keep rolling the moon behind the
closed one. Finally, both doors are swung open and
the moon has vanished. The moon then appears above
the single cloud frame. But you do not see it,
the kids see it only when you are not looking, when
you look he is nowhere in sight, you open the single
cloud frame, and it is empty, but when you look else
where, the kids see it again, above the cloud, after
the usual byplay, you finally see it also.

scratches, but mostly on the back, and can easily be
re-touched, works great, and includes instructions.

In this effect an ordinary looking length of
rope becomes rigid, then limp. You begin with the rope wrapped around your hand
to illustrate that it is "plain, ordinary rope." You continue to show the rope
to be ordinary by tying it into a loose knot. Now you claim that you will
"hypnotize" the rope. While holding the rope both ends, you wiggle it as you
say, "Rope, you will become rigid." With a comedy routine, which is enclosed,
you will suspend the rope to oohs and aahs of the audience!
After about ten seconds, you hold rope
horizontally, with hands about 4" from each end, to show no sagging. You stare
at rope, slowly saying, "And now back to the real rope world." You wind the rope
around your hand or make a knot and take your bow. A second routine is also
included in this cute rope effect. Wonderful for clowns and magicians who work
with children.
Now what can be really great about this one
version, is it is made from standard Magicians cotton rope, so you could switch
it out and do something else, like hand it out for exam.

about anything that will fit thru the hole (which is a
diameter of 4.25 inches. Magician says the magic words, and
dumps out or reaches in and pulls a different item out of
box, also again just about anything that will fit thru the
hole. The magician can show the box empty again afterwards.

The Prince and the Pumpkin M101-2061

Here's a smashing kids' trick - One which packs flat
and small in your bag, and which looks big and
impressive when set-up in the show.
A very clever
principle is used, different to the usual methods
employed during the traditional Type 'passé-passé',
sucker effects.
On display are
two colorful Castle Holders. Holders are in grey,
black:, blue and white. They are varnished for
protection. Holders have a cut out window right
through them. In front of the holders are two
colorful 14" x 10" cards. One of the cards depicts a
wicked old witch, the other one a Happy Pumpkin
The magician
explains how the pumpkin is really a prince, turned
into a pumpkin by the witch. The witch card is
placed into the castle, and to stop her from getting
out a clip is placed over the top.
Similarly,
pumpkin is placed into the other castle and a clip
is placed over. Telling of tales of the strange
happenings which occur after dark, the magician
partially covers one of the castles with a cloth, so
that the window is obscured
When he replaces
the castle on the table, the children see him
craftily turning this around
Magician takes
the remaining castle with the witch looking through
the window, and passes this swiftly around his back.
Immediately it
is seen that the witch has gone, and there looking
through the window is the Pumpkin. When the castle
on the table is uncovered there is the witch!
The effect is
repeated, the witch and the pumpkin 'repeatedly
changing places. The children lose no time in
telling you that the pictures are really
double-sided. - There's a pumpkin on the back of the
witch and vice versa; Now the cards are
removed completely from their respective castles
(which are seen to be empty, apart from these giant
cards). Magician appears to misunderstand the
children's request to turn the pictures around. He
turns them upside-down and then back: again.
Finally,
he does turn the cards over. On the back of the
witch card is an ugly frog, on the back of the
pumpkin, a handsome young prince.
Now what really makes this
unusual and a fooler, is the castles have a hole in
place of the window, so when you pull the entire
cards out of the castle, they are seeing completely
thru the castle, and out the other side. And the
magician is left with two thin placards depicting
the changed items, takes Hippitty Hop Rabbits leaps
and bounds ahead, and what's more, the props are far
more colorful, done in the excellent silk screening
that was the signature of Supreme Props. AND
it packs flat and plays BIG!!!
I have more than one set of these
in my personal collection,, some had a turn style
leg on the bottom of the castles, so they could
stand upright by themselves, these do not, and in
the instructions with these they refer to using the
metal stands to support them on, well these did not
have any stands with them either, so I am including
a set, that are obviously not the original stands.
It should be noted that this set was probably the
improved version over the set with their own feet,
since the feet were the weakest part of the entire
apparatus, they were forever falling off, or did not
do a very good job of holding the castles upright,
but using the collapsible stands that is not an
issue.
Prop is in Very good condition, especially when
you consider their age, And includes original
Supreme instructions detailing routine, however the
original instructions pages are numbered 1-5, only
page 1 is missing, which is just the description of
the effect, page 2 starts out discussing the working
of the trick, and the detailed routine, however I
will include a copy of the first page from one of my
other sets, so you are complete.
Also the original included a 24"
cloth to cover the first castle with, I will let you
supply your own, since you may have your own
preference of colors etc. The original also
included two colored clothes pins, which are no
longer here, so I will include 2 standard clothes
pins.

Nowadays it seems that the egg bag of choice is the
Malini Style. Martin Lewis offers his variation
of the Senor Mardo bag in his lecture as an
alternative. His reasons for preferring
this style bag are threefold. It is easier to
handle, the (you know what) is invisible
even upon direct inspection, and far more effects
are possible, as well as some
novel moves. He also prefers the brighter coloring.
Expert seamstress Gladys Lewis
makes these bags and I believe them to be the most
practical and deceptive egg
bag available.

Visible Penetrating
Block (Vampire Block)

Effect:
A tall wooden tube (coffin) is displayed. It is painted
gloss black and decorated with skulls. A golden wood spike
and a red wooden block complete the set.
The block represents Count Dracula and is dropped into
the 'coffin', then impaled with the spike. The problem is,
this only works in the movies. When the coffin is inverted,
the block (Dracula) VISIBLY escapes, penetrating the solid
wooden stake!
Block and stake may be examined. A great bizarre
magic effect, suitable for that unusual element in any show.
